28-Year-Old Dad Dies Suddenly With 72 Holes In His Lungs

A young man from Broulee, New South Wales, has tragically died just days before his 29th birthday after a devastating bacterial infection destroyed his lungs.
Dylan Watts, 28, passed away on March 22, leaving his family and community in shock. Despite doctors warning that he might not live beyond 30, his sudden passing came sooner than anyone expected.
What began in 2021 with just two small holes in his lungs quickly spiraled into a relentless battle for survival. By mid-2024, Dylan’s condition had worsened to the point where medical scans revealed 72 holes in his lungs, a sign of the aggressive infection tearing through his body.
His sister, Caitlyn, described how quickly his health deteriorated. “Last July, he spent three weeks in the hospital after coughing up blood. The doctor said if he hadn’t gone in when he did, he wouldn’t have survived,” she explained.
Despite chronic fatigue, severe coughing, reflux, and mounting mental health struggles, Dylan continued to fight. He carried a heavy load of medications—so many, his sister said, they could “fill an entire backpack.”
