Kelly Osbourne’s Emotional Tribute Honors Ozzy Osbourne’s Life and Legacy at Birmingham Awa

Just two weeks before her Halloween post went viral, Kelly Osbourne stood before a packed audience at The Birmingham Awards to accept a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award for her late father, Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away three months earlier at the age of 76.

Clad in a simple black dress with layered gold necklaces, Kelly delivered a deeply moving speech honoring the man who defined a generation of rock. Fighting back tears, she began by reminding the audience that her father’s influence stretched far beyond his wild onstage persona.

She noted that Ozzy Osbourne was one of the few artists inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — once as the electrifying frontman of Black Sabbath and again for his groundbreaking solo career. Kelly continued, proudly listing his achievements: five Grammy wins and twelve nominations.

“But impressive as those awards are,” she said, “this recognition tonight tops them all.”

Kelly’s speech then turned personal. She spoke of her father’s enduring love for his hometown of Birmingham, explaining that while he spent much of his life in America, his heart never left England.

“He was forced to spend much of his life in America because of his work, but Birmingham was always his heart and soul,” she said. “He loved this city; he loved the people as they loved him back. That’s why it was so important to come home one last time in July to say goodbye.”

Her voice broke as she described the overwhelming crowds who gathered for Ozzy’s final performance in Aston, where thousands celebrated his life and music.

“He was a proud Brummy in the beginning of his career, and he was a proud Brummy at the end,” she concluded. “Again, on behalf of my dad and my family, thank you for this wonderful Lifetime Achievement Award. I know he’s looking down on us tonight, smiling with pride.”
