Ocasio-Cortez’s Constituents Rail Against Her As Crime Soars in Her District

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has spent the past months traveling the country on her “Fight the Oligarchy” tour with Sen. Bernie Sanders, elevating her national profile and fueling speculation of higher office.

But back in her Bronx/Queens district, frustration is boiling over. Since AOC first took office in 2019, major crime has spiked by 70% — with some precincts seeing even sharper increases.

The 110th Precinct in Queens — home to the notorious Roosevelt Avenue “Market of Sweethearts” human-trafficking hub — logged a 105% jump in major crime, while the 115th Precinct saw an 85% surge, according to NYPD data reported by The New York Post.

Residents say their congresswoman has been too busy building her brand to address the decline at home.

“She’s not doing s–t. She doesn’t live in the neighborhood, she doesn’t care,” said Guadelupe Alvarez, a former supporter who now plans to leave the area altogether.
