Heartbreaking 911 call reveals new details about Diane Keaton’s sudden death

Hollywood is in mourning following the passing of legendary actress Diane Keaton, who died at the age of 79. The Academy Award-winning star, known for her wit, charm, and timeless individuality, passed away peacefully, her family confirmed.

While the cause of death has not been publicly disclosed, 911 dispatch audio obtained by TMZ revealed that emergency services were called to her Los Angeles home early on October 11. Paramedics transported Keaton to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. A family statement described her final moments as “peaceful,” though friends said her decline was unexpectedly swift.

One longtime friend shared, “She declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her. Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening.”

Close friend and songwriter Carole Bayer Sager, who co-wrote Keaton’s holiday single “First Christmas,” recalled their last meeting just weeks before her passing. “She was very thin… she had lost so much weight,” Sager said. “She was still taking photos, still curious, still shining her light — but physically, something had changed.”

In recent months, Keaton had returned to Los Angeles after temporarily relocating to Palm Springs following wildfire damage to her home. Friends said that despite her frail health, she remained optimistic and independent until the end. “She was funny right up until the end,” one close companion remembered. “She lived exactly how she wanted to — on her own terms.”

As news of her death spread, tributes from colleagues and admirers poured in, celebrating not just her extraordinary career, but her authenticity and humor that defined a generation of film lovers.
