Bongino’s Future At FBI In Question After Bondi Adds Another Co-Director

In an unprecedented decision, Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel announced that Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey will join the bureau as co-deputy director — the first time in history the role will be shared.
The move comes amid mounting tension inside the FBI, where current Deputy Director Dan Bongino has faced scrutiny following a bitter falling out with Bondi last month over the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Bondi praised Bailey’s appointment, calling him a “decorated war veteran” with “dedication to service” and “commitment to advancing President Trump’s mission.” Bailey, who officially resigned from his post in Missouri to accept the new job, said serving the FBI is a “privilege” and vowed to help “Make America Safe Again.”
But the appointment raises urgent questions about Bongino’s future — and whether this “co-leadership” structure is really a sign he’s being pushed out.
