Michelle Obama Addresses 2028 Presidential Run Rumors

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has once again addressed — and firmly dismissed — persistent speculation about her potential entry into presidential politics.
In a candid conversation on “Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce,” Obama made it clear that her focus remains on family, not public office. As the mother of two daughters who spent their formative years in the White House, she emphasized that she is “not interested in politics.”
“I was so glad when we got out of the White House,” the 61-year-old said, reflecting on the conclusion of her husband Barack Obama’s presidency in 2017. “I wanted them to have the freedom of not having the eyes of the world on them. They still are dealing with paparazzi and being who they are and trying to carve out their own identity.”
Obama explained that the years in Washington were both rewarding and challenging, particularly for her daughters, Malia and Sasha, who grew up under constant public attention. “When people ask me, would I ever run [for office], the answer is no,” she said firmly.
The former First Lady went on to highlight the immense personal cost that political life imposes on families. “Those wondering have absolutely no idea the sacrifice that your kids make when your parents are in that role,” she said.
As both a former attorney and a bestselling author, Obama has long maintained that she prefers to make an impact through advocacy, mentorship, and education rather than political office. For her, the question of running for president is settled — permanently.
