‘Shut Up!’: Democrat Senator Goes Off on Ocasio-Cortez

Efforts by progressive lawmakers to impeach President Donald Trump over his recent military strike on Iranian nuclear sites have quickly met strong resistance—even from within their own party. The proposal, spearheaded by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and supported by a small group of left-wing Democrats, was declared “dead on arrival” by Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) on Monday.
The controversy erupted after Trump ordered a series of “bunker buster” bombings targeting suspected Iranian nuclear enrichment facilities on Sunday. Progressive Democrats accused the president of violating the Constitution by initiating a “war” without congressional authorization.
However, Senator Fetterman—one of several Democrats who publicly backed Trump’s decision—dismissed the idea of impeachment, arguing that such rhetoric only damages the seriousness of the process. “Of course not,” Fetterman said when asked whether the president should be impeached. “He’s already been impeached twice, and he’s still in office. Bringing it up again isn’t helpful.”
The military action, which reportedly neutralized multiple Iranian nuclear sites, was defended by Trump allies as a strategic move to prevent an immediate threat against Israel and U.S. forces in the region. Yet Ocasio-Cortez and members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus remain adamant that the decision was unconstitutional and demanded accountability.
“The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on social media. Her post sparked a wave of debate across Capitol Hill and online platforms, with critics accusing her of exploiting the situation for political gain.
