Trump Orders Troops To ‘War-Ravaged’ Portland to Protect Federal Property

President Donald Trump has ordered the deployment of “all necessary” troops to Portland to secure the city and protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel. He emphasized that he is “authorizing full force, if necessary” as daily protests at the federal ICE detention facility continue to intensify.

Trump announced on Truth Social: “At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary troops to protect war-ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists. I am also authorizing full force, if necessary.”

The order comes after a series of high-profile attacks on ICE officers and recent enforcement measures led by Attorney General Pam Bondi. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has identified Portland as a hotspot for Antifa activity, with repeated incidents of demonstrators attacking the federal ICE facility. Reports include a person aiming a laser at an officer, smoke grenades fired at personnel, and attempts to damage equipment.

Local officials have urged protesters to remain peaceful, but tensions have escalated. A grand jury recently indicted three women accused of following an ICE agent home and livestreaming the agent’s address online.

Two days earlier, a suspected sniper attacked an ICE facility in Texas, wounding at least three migrants. Investigators recovered a bullet at the scene inscribed with the words “anti ICE.”
